20 years of optimized coolant supply - Grindaix celebrates its anniversary
Grindaix GmbH was founded in 2005 with the basic idea of improving and optimizing the supply of cooling lubricant for grinding processes. The last two decades have been influenced by many fundamental changes and developments of new innovations that make coolant supply more precise and reliable. To celebrate our milestones and achievements of the past years, Grindaix is getting a new logo for its anniversary.

Grindaix - Milestones

The development of the first Grindaix needle nozzle and the resulting improved cooling of the machining zone brought Grindaix GmbH to life in 2005. The aim of every nozzle developed was to minimize the risk of grinding burn while at the same time reducing the lubricoolant requirement.
The need for small series for the production of needle nozzles gave rise to the PART FACTORY business unit in February 2014. In the form of an online platform, PART FACTORY simplifies the procurement of components and minimizes the associated time expenditure.
Due to the growth of Grindaix GmbH, it was time to move to a larger office in January 2016. Grindaix GmbH moved to Kerpen together with PART FACTORY, where there was sufficient space for test benches and production.
In 2016, we also developed our individually configurable and modular gFlex articulated metal tube. This now makes it possible to achieve a sufficient supply of cooling lubricant in very narrow machine rooms while still retaining the advantages of a metal tube.
The past few years have also been characterized by many innovations. In 2017, for example, 3D printing was used for needle nozzles to provide more freedom in terms of geometric complexity. In 2021, the multi-chamber multifunctional nozzle and the associated patent represented a further innovation achievement. Here, several functions are combined in one nozzle to optimize process cooling while saving space.
The takeover by Quaker Houghton in September 2021 will enable the Fluid Intelligence offering to be strengthened, innovations to be developed and international contacts to be established.
In June 2023, after almost 20 years, there was a change in the management of Grindaix GmbH. Together, Roman Stabauer and Glen May now form the new management and carry experience, know-how and a variety of new ideas into the new phase of the company's life.
Evolution of the needle nozzles
Like so many other things, our cooling lubricant nozzles have also evolved in recent years. They have become more complex and have adapted to the conditions of the grinding processes by using 3D printing for more complex geometries or the Coolant Protector for wear protection.

Achievements of the last 20 years
Over 20 years, many needle nozzles have been developed for different customers in order to optimize the grinding process and save cooling lubricant:

What our managing director says
Roman Stabauer:
"It is a great honor for me to be the Managing Director of Grindaix on its 20th anniversary. Even though I have only officially been part of the company for just under three years, I already have almost ten years of history with Grindaix, during which I have been closely involved in its development. It is impressive to see what has emerged from an initial idea and the first needle nozzles in two decades. The number of special solutions we have developed and manufactured is almost impossible to quantify - as is the variety of grinding processes that we have been able to optimize with them. In addition to the development and sale of nozzle solutions, we have carried out numerous audits on machines and filter systems and developed and installed innovative monitoring and sensor solutions. The focus has always been on new, forward-looking approaches. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all employees who have made this development possible - and who continue to do so with great commitment day after day. The acquisition by Quaker Houghton in 2021 has opened up additional perspectives for Grindaix. In the future, we want to be even more global and versatile by combining our products with the right process fluids and intelligent sensor technology. This will enable us to optimize our customers' grinding processes holistically and from a single source. Of course, like the entire industry, we are constantly faced with major challenges and have to adapt continuously. Nevertheless, I am confident about the coming years and look forward to the next 20 years of Grindaix history."
